Our Commitment

Research shows that students are more successful when their families are actively involved in their education. At Comal Creek Elementary, we believe that families are essential partners in every child's learning journey.

This Title I Family Engagement Policy—developed collaboratively with families, community members, and school staff—works in coordination with our Student-Parent-School Compact to set shared expectations for student success.

 

What is Title I? 

Title I is a federally funded program under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), designed to provide all children with a high-quality education and support to meet state academic standards.

Comal Creek qualifies for Title I based on the number of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. Students are selected for services based on academic need, not income.

Title I programs offer additional instructional support in areas such as reading, math, science, and social studies using strategies grounded in research.

 

Family Engagement Throughout the Year

Annual Title I Meetings

  • Fall Meeting (first quarter): Learn about Title I, parent rights, and how our school uses Title I funds.
  • Spring Meeting (last quarter): Collaboratively review and update our Title I policy and the Student-Parent-School Compact.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

  • Held during the school year to discuss student progress and allow families to make suggestions or decisions about their child’s education.

How We Support Family Engagement

  • Provide tools and information for families to support academic learning at home.
  • Share strategies for building positive school-home partnerships.
  • Use multiple communication channels (e.g., student folders, email, social media, flyers) to keep families informed.
  • Offer in-person and virtual opportunities for involvement.

Support for All Families We are committed to supporting all families, including those from diverse cultural or linguistic backgrounds. Interpretation services and translated materials are available upon request.

Two-Way Communication We value open communication with families. In addition to planned meetings and conferences, families are invited to share feedback through surveys, emails, or by reaching out to staff at any time.
